Description

A mural on the side of a building portrays two females. One of the females is Mahsa Amini. She died in police custody in Iran after being arrested for inappropriately wearing her hijab. The other female is RokhSar رخساره. She portrayed cutting her hair with scissors. Surrounding the females is a phrase by the french poet Paul Eluard: Je suis née pour te connaître, pour te nommer. This translates to "I was born to know you, to name you Freedom." The other phrase reads "Femme, Vie, Liberté." It translates to "Women, Life, Freedom."

Abstract

The artists express that the mural was created in memory of "Mahsa Amini and to all women killed by injustice and patriarcat through the years, and in support to all women fighting for their basic human rights and freedom from Syria to Afghanistan, to Iran, to the United States of America and all over the world."
