Description

A mural on the side of a building portrays a female with her left fist in the air. In her fist, there are strands of hair. Underneath her face, "We Honor the Innocent Lives Lost Fighting For a Free Iran" is written in white paint. It wraps around her neck, in a necklace manner. Behind her, there are red, white, and green stripes. These are the colors of the national flag of Iran. In the red stripe, "#Mahsaamini" is written in white paint. On the right side of the mural is a black background with the words "Free Iran" and "Women Life Freedom" written in white.

Abstract

The hashtag in the mural refers to the Iranian woman Mahsa Amini who suspiciously died. She was arrested by the Iranian morality police for wearing her hijab in an improper manner. The morality police beat her before they took her into custody and transported her to a detention center. Three days after she was beaten, she died.
